A main programme may depend heavily on information and progress received from specialist subcontractors. If a subcontractor programme changes, those adjustments can affect interfaces, sequencing, and planned dates elsewhere in the project. Reviewing how subcontractor information was incorporated into the main schedule can therefore provide useful evidence during a delay investigation. Different delay analysis methods may help assess whether a subcontractor issue remained localised or influenced wider project completion. It is also worth checking whether the relevant activities were updated consistently in the principal programme. This creates an interesting discussion about coordination between programme management and contractual responsibilities. The College of Contract Management has a Forensic Schedule Analysis course that could be useful for professionals working with complex project schedules. If you are unsure whether the course suits your objectives, speak with the admissions team for more information.
